The Building and Construction Industry Payments Agency, the regulatory body that monitors the security of payment legislation in Queensland, has released their annual report for the period 2008/2009.
The report shows positive growth in the number of an adjudication applications been lodged during the period (999 in total), with a reported 89% increase in adjudication referrals from the previous years. What this means is that adjudication is being more and more seen as the de facto method in which to resolve construction disputes in Queensland.
The report also features some articles from Ian Jennings, the general manager of the Queensland Building Services Authority, and Michael Chesterman, the Adjudication Registrar, as well as some operating statistics.
You can read the report in full by clicking on this link (you will need Adobe Acrobat or a PDF reader to view. It is also a large ~5 megabyte file).
As always, the RICS DRS are willing and able to educate both claimants and respondent on the inner workings of the legislation as well as the adjudication process. Feel free to contact us should you have any questions.
