Expert witnesses play a crucial role in property and construction disputes which are often decided on expert evidence. The current economic climate is likely to bring an increase in disputes and a growing need for experts who can deliver reports which are effective in putting a case forward.
In July this year RICS Oceania announced the introduction of the ‘RICS Oceania Expert Witness Registration Scheme’ including the release of the ‘RICS Oceania – Surveyors Acting as Expert Witnesses Practice Statement and Guidance Notes’.
The July training course was primarily aimed at RICS members who wish to apply to be included on the RICS EWRS; however several non RICS members attended. Attendees were also present from NSW, VIC & SA.
Following the first EWRS training course in July, RICS is compiling a panel of RICS experts across all RICS professional groups.
Members who wish to be considered for the EWRS can apply using the application form in the ‘Surveyors Acting as Expert Witnesses’ Practice statement and Guidance Notes available on our expert witness section of the site.
