Security of Payment & Adjudication Training

When it comes to security of payment and adjudication, the RICS Dispute Resolution Service are the industry experts. For example, our long running Intensive Training series has been the defacto standard for providing training and education to the industry on Building and Construction Industry Payments Act for the past four years.

With regards to security of payment and adjudication, we provide the following services within the Oceania region

BCIPA Intensive Training Series

The RICS DRS regularly holds one-day intensive training courses in Brisbane. The courses are held quarterly and are aimed at training industry practitioners as well as the general public on the operation of the Building and Construction Industry Payments Act 2004. They are run in conjunction with construction law specialists Holding Redlich Lawyers.

This course is endorsed by the Queensland Law Society to provide CPD units for solicitors and lawyers. Please contact us for more details on this endorsement.

The training course is designed for building and construction industry practitioners including:

  • Suppliers,
  • Contractors and subcontractors.
  • Consultants
  • Government, non-government and other commercial organisations.
  • Property developers
  • Owner-builders

The legislation is applicable to the following industries: building work, civil engineering, demolition, electrical, hire of plant and equipment, landscaping, maintenance, mechanical, architectural design, surveying, supply of building materials, plus many more.

Cost: $550.00 (excluding GST)

15% discount for members of the following organisations: RICS, AIQS, API, CIOB, CIBSE, IEAUST, RAIA, NECA, AIB, MBA, FMA.

15% discount applicable for group bookings of five (5) or more.

Generally, the course content includes the following aspects:

  • Introduction to the the objectives and procedures of the BCIP Act
  • Payment claims and payment schedules
  • Adjudication procedures, adjudication applications and adjudication responses
  • The adjudication process and adjudication certificate

Attendees to this course who wish to progress to the Adjudicator training course, the required step to securing a qualification in adjudication, will receive a 20% discount off the cost of the Adjudicator training course.

BCISOPA Intensive Training Series

The RICS Dispute Resolution Service also holds similar one-day intensive training courses on the NSW Building and Construction Industry Security of Payments Act 1999. The courses are run around every three months in Sydney and are aimed at training industry practitioners in the operation of the legislation.

This training course is designed to provide a detailed and practical understanding of the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payments Act.

Cost: $550.00 (excluding GST) 15% discount for members of the following: RICS, AIQS, API, CIOB, CIBSE, IEAUST, RAIA, NECA, AIB, MBA, FMA. 15% discount applicable for group bookings of five (5) or more

BCIPA Adjudicator Training

The RICS DRS has the capacity to train adjudicators suitable for registration with the Building and Construction Industry Payments agency. From time to time, we hold two-day Adjudicator training courses.

This training course is designed for surveyors and building and construction industry experts who wish to attain a Certificate in Adjudication, as well as those who represent clients involved in the adjudication process.
